When her two sons were younger, owning the resale shop was a perfect situation for Hentz and her family. ![]() Since her oldest son, Jackson, is set to be a junior at Southern Illinois University and her youngest son, Will, is set to be a junior at EHS, Hentz enjoys visits from all the mothers and children that stop by Tot Spot Resale. McCrea comes in occasionally to help out when she can. Over the past couple of years, McCrea’s children have gotten to the age where they’re in sports and other events, so Hentz has started to run the operation by herself. Hentz started the shop alongside her sister, Joanna McCrea. I thought it was a good idea,” Hentz said. “Just having young kids and it was constantly hand-me-downs. That's how Hentz got started with Tot Spot Resale. “We thought it was a good place to stay and raise our kids.” We were high school sweethearts,” Hentz said. “Fourteen years later and I’m still here.”īorn and raised in Edwardsville, Hentz and her husband, Ryan, graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1994. “It was a little nerve-wracking at first, but after our first year we thought it was something that would stick,” Hentz said. This July, Hentz will be celebrating her 14 th year operating the business, which was briefly at 405 East Vandalia but has been in the current location since 2009.
